The BC Distracted Diver Legislation was very kind to amateur radio operators in that we were given a permanent exemption from this legislation. HOWEVER  to be exempt you must have a fixed mobile unit in your vehicle.  Hand held radios even if connected to an external antenna  ARE NOT EXEMPT. In other words you can get a ticket if you are found to be using your handheld while driving.

The Society for the Preservation of Amateur Radio will hold their annual Winter Field Day Contest on January 26/27 2013. The purpose of this event is to encourage Emergency Preparedness in the Winter.
