The Radio Amateurs of Canada meets on a regular basis with Industry Canada on issues of interest to amateur radio operators. Over the years issues such as requirements for operator certification, amateur 60M access, the need for a exam/question bank update, items for inclusion in World Radio Conferences, antenna management issues, spectrum intrusion and other matters have been raised with Industry Canada by RAC.
Radio Amateurs of Canada is pleased to announce that in 2014 we will again be offering scholarships to young Amateurs who are taking post-secondary schooling in Electrical, Electronic and Software Engineering. Students in other fields of study will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You must be an Amateur and the deadline for applications is July 31, 2014.
A test using ALE will be conducted at the end of March early April to test emergency communications. The test will be a joint amateur FCC test. For more information go to
Below is a link to newspaper article in which last weekends Nanaimo Ground Search and Rescue Simulated Emergency Test is reported. An excellent example of interoperability and cooperation by various response units. Nice to see ham radio mentioned too. The Nanaimo area ARES unit, Coast Emergency Communications Association, participated in the event not the Nanaimo Amateur Radio Association as reported . A great learning event for all involved.
