California Evacuating Over 200,000 People UPDATED FEB 14 0900 PST.

Interesting to listen to how emergency folks in California are using incident command as they handle the Lake Oroville Dam event.  Staging  various pieces of equipment and reception centre activation.  This dam is the tallest , at 770 ft, in the US.  They need to lower this lake 50 ft.

Hopefully things will work out for the everyone involved.

  ARES folks this may be one to watch.

Well known Vancouver Island Ham is a SK UPDATED FEB 8 2017

Roger Stacey, VA7RS, a well known Vancouver Island ham died suddenly on Feb 7 2017. Roger’s dedication, knowledge, and friendship will be missed by many. No information available yet on any service. When that information becomes available it will be posted here.

UPDATE’  A Celebration of Life for Roger will be held on Saturday Feb 11 2017 at Sands Funeral Home #1 Newcastle Ave., Nanaimo BC from 1-3pm. Coffee and Sandwiches will be served. If you have any photos of Roger you wish to share please bring them along.

HAM RADIO OPERATOR RECOGNIZED FOR HIS WORK DURING FT MCMURRAY FIRE

Ft McMurray  recently held  The Mayors and Council Toast of Champions . A BC ham,Matt  Lewis,VA7MJL, VE6 MJL,  who recently moved to Alberta was nominated by the Fire Chief Darby Allen. Sometimes being a radio operator means being more than using just a radio. You are part of a team.  Go to 26 minutes 44 seconds of the show to see the presentation.
