The Salvation Army has acquired an additional call sign from the US FCC for their Mississippi Alabama area. What is interesting is they are setting up to use the station in a remote set up. Net controllers will be able to run the station from their homes. For more information go to http://www.nevadahamradio.com/

VICTORIA HAM FAMILY MAKE THE NEWS..
The following information was gleaned from the ARRL Contest Update issued March 12th 2014. Congratulations to all involved.
In another example of ham radio setting the stage for innovation, Ann Makosinski, daughter of Arthur and Sandra Ann Makosinski (VE7FAB and VE7EEL), created a novel LED flashlight powered by heat from the hand holding it. The project won for her age group in the 2013 Google Science Fair. Requiring no batteries or other power sources, the flashlight can provide light in areas without electricity or other reliable and affordable power sources. (Thanks, Jim KØUPW)

* Errors in the new IC exam/question bank*..
We have noted and had reports of a some typos or transcription errors
in the Industry Canada exam questions. It is not that unusual that a
few such errors can creep into the long document (more than 6000
questions and 24000 answers considering the English and French
versions of the two exam banks). Fortunately the new system IC has
developed makes it easy and quick to correct such errors.
RAC will assist in conveying the information.Anyone wishing to report
errors are invited to send these reports by email to RAC at
