The Hurricane Watch Net is being activated for Hurricane Rina which is predicted to make landfall on the eastern edge of the Yucatan Peninsula on Thursday Oct 27.
The net will be active on 14.325 MHz to report observed conditions to the National Hurricane Center. Depending on conditions, we may also elect to activate on 7.268 MHz, we will make that known on our primary 20-meter frequency. Net operations will begin at 1230 UTC (0830 Eastern) 10/27/2011. Amateur stations in the affected area should be aware of the storm, and be prepared to operate from a place of safety. We will be looking for condition reports from stations in the affected area. We do appreciate the consideration of Amateur Operators in keeping our frequency clear, and listening for possible relays.
