“The Secretary of Radio Amateurs of Canada Inc, hereby solicits nominations for the positions of Director for the Regions of Atlantic, BC/Yukon, Midwest and Ontario North/East (postal codes K and P). Elections for these positions will be held in October 2014 to take office January 1, 2015 for a two year term.”

SOME BC FACTS.

Did you know that

BC covers just about 10% of Canada’s surface area.

Less than 2% of the Provinces’s 364,764 square miles are covered by lakes and rivers

Only one US state, Alaska, is larger in surface area

and

Vancouver Island is about the size of Holland.

This should give you an idea of the size of BC.

There are over two million people living in the Lower Mainland (that’s about half the Province’s population ).

The entire BC coast is vulnerable to earthquakes.   That’s one of the reasons why ARES is frequently mentioned on this site

 

 

VE7BOP – SYD JAMESON SK

Sydney Jameson  VE7BOP   passed away last week in Nelson BC.For several years Syd was the Regional Amateur Radio Representative for the Southeast Region of the Provincial Emergency Program.  In addition he was a member of the Nelson Amateur Radio Club.
