MAGNITUDE 6.6 EARTHQUAKE off the West Coast of Vancouver Island Oct 21 2018
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake off the west coast of Vancouver Island is not expected to have created a tsunami. This occurred approximately 10:45pm and there are no reports of any damage as yet. The quake was roughly 250 km off the coast.
2337 hrs PDT OCT 21 2018 . Multiple earthquakes are now reported. Still no tsunami, no damage reports
Northern Florida Looking For Radio Operators to Assist
Florida is looking for more radio operators from within the state to assist with communications as the effects of Hurricane Michael continue to be felt. Operators are requested to have at least vhf/uhf equipment and be able to be self sufficient for up to seven days. To learn more go to

CECA AND JOTA
In Support of JOTA this weekend CECA will have two stations working. One station will be in Nanaimo in conjunction with the Nanaimo Amateur Radio Association and the other will be at the Gabriola Emergency Communications Centre.
JOTA is an annual Scouting event that uses amateur radio to link Scouts around the world. JOTA started in Canada in 1958. More than 500,00 Scouts participate around the world
NTS Traffic Alive and Well In British Columbia Oct 2018.
There was probably more,but there were roughly 450 pieces of traffic that I am aware of handled in September 2018. There are currently three NTS nets reporting. Good work by all involved.
