Amateur radio operators continue their work as they assist with rescue and recovery operations in the earthquake zone. On April 8th 2015 the SV Nirvana ran into trouble and asked the Maritime Net for assistance. Shortly thereafter a MAYDAY was issued by Nirvana. Nirvana is at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, but her crew is safe. To read the story of this rescue go to

14.200 + or – is the area when amateurs are working trying to assist emergency operations in Nepal . These frequencies, in addition to those noted on a previous post with respect to the Chilean volcano should be avoided, if possible. If you can’t avoid the frequencies please make sure you are not interfering. Your cooperation will be appreciated I am sure.
