The weekly HF net conducted by Emergency Management British Columbia will resume after a holiday break. The net will resume this Wednesday January 7th 2015 on 3.735 Mhz at 1900 hrs. Various VHF regional nets will also resume this week.

Radio Amateurs of Canada supports Societies in Kosovo and Rwanda in their bid to join the IARU
From RAC :
RAC has voted “aye” to having both Shoqata e Radio Amatoreve te Kosoves (SHRAK) headquartered in Pristine, Republic of Kosovo and Rwanda Amateur Radio Union (RARU) headquartered in Kimironko, Gasabo District, Kigali City, Rwanda join the IARU as member societies
These Societies have applied to and been found to satisfy the requirements of the Constitution and Bylaws of the IARU by the Region 1 Executive Committee. Region 1 has made favourable findings with regards to the applications.
All national societies (worldwide) need to vote on whether new societies can join the IARU. Voting closes January 5th 2015.

COWICHAN RESCUE DELAYED BY GAS THEFT.
Cowichan Search and rescue team was delayed in their response to a man stranded in a river when they realized the fuel had been siphoned from the response truck. Of note is that the Cowichan Amateur Radio Group respond with the Search and Rescue Team to assit with and aid in communication.. To read the whole story go to
