While there was some hope the hot springs at Hot Spring Island in the Haid Gwaii National Park would return those hopes are dimming. The effects of the last October’s earthquake are still being felt. This is yet another reminder that preparation is key to major natural events and the recovery period may be long. It is wonderful that this negative impact is “minor.” I just wonder how many people will learn from this, get prepared and realize the recovery from a catastrophic event doesn’t happen over night.
