BC LEADS CANADA WITH NEW HAMS.
According to Radio Amateurs of Canada for the first 10 months of 2015 there were 1,125 new hams and 366 or 33% came from BC. Congratulations to the students, instructors and examiners.
VANCOUVER ISLAND REGION COMMUNICATION EXERCISE APRIL 12 2016.
On Tuesday April 12th 2016 Emergency Management British Columbia will be conducting a communications exercise from the Vancouver Island Region. While the primary focus will be on Vancouver Island Emergency Management Offices(Radio Rooms) from around the Province will be on the air. Various HF frequencies and bands will be in use as well as VHF and UHF frequencies. Both voice and digital activities are planned.The exercise is scheduled to end in the early afternoon. Every attempt has been made to avoid disruption to the various nets. These tests provide valuable training,resource development and emergency plan testing for the various emergency services.Your usual cooperation is very much appreciated.

comm vandemos, hams from all over the Pacific Northwest, vendor demos, doorprizes, continental breakfast and buffet lunch both days! Our
presentations this year cover subjects including earthquake and wildfire
scenarios and lessons, emergency communications, digital radio
communications, commercial emcomm equipment and a whole track devoted to beginner hams from buying your first radio to getting on the air for the first time. 40 hours of ham radio and emergency communications!
Pre-registration cut-off is at 11:59 pm on April 6th. Go to

both days! It’s one of the largest ham gatherings in the northwest –
