New RAC Director for Alberta/NWT/NU Region..

The following is a bulletin received from the Radio Amateurs of Canada

RAC would like to welcome Ernest Clintberg, VE6EC/VE6ECK, as our newly elected Director for the Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut Region. Ernest was elected by the members of the region and will complete the remainder of a two-year term that started on January 1, 2016 and will end on December 31, 2017.

OPERATIONS CASCADIA RISING AND COASTAL RESPONSE GETTING CLSOSER

ARES operators on both sides of the border have been holding simulated emergency tests in preparation for a very large scale event in June 2016.  On April 12 2016 amateurs in British Columbia conducted their  province wide  test. Local testing is ongoing in many areas of BC. The test in June will be the largest simulated emergency test ever conducted in British Columbia. There will be more information posted as the event gets closer.

Ecuador is using 7060 for their emergency net. This frequency may change. In view of the earthquake and as a courtesy please always make sure the frequency is clear before you use it.

VANCOUVER ISLAND REGION COMMUNICATION EXERCISE APRIL 12 2016.

On Tuesday April 12th 2016 Emergency Management British Columbia will be conducting a communications exercise from the Vancouver Island Region. While the primary focus will be on Vancouver Island Emergency Management Offices(Radio Rooms)  from around the Province will be on the air. Various HF frequencies and bands will be in use as well as VHF and UHF frequencies. Both voice and digital activities are planned.The exercise is scheduled to end in the early afternoon. Every attempt has been made to avoid disruption to the various nets. These tests provide valuable training,resource development and emergency plan testing for the various emergency services.Your usual cooperation is very much appreciated.
