Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) had a busy 2018..

The following information has been received from the SATERN Team. They had a busy 30th Anniversary year

SATERN: The Salvation Army’s National SATERN (Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network) Liaison Bill Feist (WB8BZH) began by briefly discussing SATERN’s progress towards completion of its 2016 Strategic Plan initiative which is about 40% completed overall. Feist then reported on the activities of its regular Nets including the International SATERN SSB and Digital Nets, its four Territorial SATERN Nets and some of its local nets. These Nets had a cumulative total of nearly 18,000 check-ins in 2018 from all 50 states and at least 11 countries. These did not include the check-ins for special events such as the SATERN 30th Anniversary Net Rally (1,060) or emergency operations. Feist then reported on SATERN’s activities during the very busy 2018 Atlantic and Pacific Hurricane Seasons. In the Atlantic Basin, SATERN responded to three storms – Tropical Storm Alberto, Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael, providing a total of 5 operating days with 406 check-ins. In the Pacific Basin, SATERN responded to two storms – Hurricanes Lane and Willa, providing a total of 3 operating days with 222 check-ins.
