The 2019 Swiftsure International Yacht Race and Ham Radio

Once again this year over 40 amateur radio operators assisted the race committee at the 2019 Swiftsure International Yacht Race. Amateur stations were established on all the official vessels, in Victoria near the race Hq, with certain race officials and at Sombrio. The purpose was to assist with routine and emergency communication during the races. The race committee works with the Canadian and US Coast Guard as well as the Royal Canadian Air Force and many others to make sure the weekend is enjoyable for all. It is always interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes to keep the event going and keep everyone safe. The weather this year gave us fog, rain cool temperatures and sun.
