Does Your Emergency Plan Utilize Marine Resources?

The emergency plans in the area of responsibility of CECA make use of several marine resources.  To be of value to your ARES group you should hold a Restricted (Marine) Certificate.  The website below provides an opportunity to acquire the certificate. If this course doesn’t work into your plans check the second site noted below

NEW RADIO ROOM OPENS OCT 6TH 2013

Today, OCT 6th 2013, the new #1 Fire Hall on Gabriola Island will hold their open house from 1 – 4 pm.  As part of this event the new radio room for  ARES radio operations  will also be open to the public. The new call sign will be VE7GEC.

While there is still much work to do in the radio room it will allow the public to see CECA, what CECA does, and how it is done.  This facility will provide enhanced capabilities to the CECA area of responsibility.  Congratulations to all involved.

NEW RADIOROOM

The brand new Gabriola #1 Fire Hall on Gabriola Island will have their open house this Sunday Oct 6th from 1-4pm.  As part of this open house CECA will have their new radio room open for visitors.  While the radio room is far from completed it will give the local folks an opportunity to see what amateur radio is all about, and the role of amateur radio in times of crisis.

17 DAYS UNTIL THE SHAKEOUT..

There are only 17 days until the Great BC Shakeout.  Have you registered your group yet? Only 12  radio groups in BC have registered for the event thus far.  This is an excellent event that allows you to check your emergency plan, your activation procedure, all without a lot of planning ( all the planning is done for you !)  It also provides an excellent venue for amateur radio to present to the public and show our abilities, equipment and commitment in the event of a crisis.
